Mt. Hood, Oregon
Just a quick note to all the fans of Darrol Holstad. . .
You all are aware of Darrol's accomplishments when he's put on his hiking boots: Denali, Mt. Rainier, Kilimanjaro, just to name a few. He just added a big one to his already fantastic resume--Mt. Hood, Oregon. It's a huge accomplishment because, not only is it one of the toughest ascents in the United States, but for someone who has had major open heart surgery in the not-too-distant past, it says a lot about the strength and character of the man in the boots. It was also #49 of the 50 high points in the USA. WAY TO GO DARROL!!
It was no small feat either for our Northwest pal, Mel Courtney, who has done Mt. Hood several times, knows the way and accompanied Darrol up the "hill" and Robin and Larry Ligouri, who also did it with flying colors a few days before Mel and Darrol. We hang out with some pretty impressive folks in the Coachella Valley Hiking Club!
Darrol is on his way to Alaska but Robin and Larry can tell you all about climbing (and it's a climb) Mt. Hood.

Thanks for the info Suzanne!
I miss hiking with my buddy Darrol (I live in San Diego now) and am glad to hear that he is still conquering those difficult mountains.
